Precision Boat means quality, affordable trailerable sailboats. These boats are safe, fast, simple and fun to use. Quality is built in by brothers Richard and Bill Porter, owners & operators of Precision Boat Works for 30 years. Quality is designed in by Jim Taylor who has been Precision’s designer of choice for all their models. Designs are laid out with the user in mind, and the most is made of all available space within the cabin. Precision prides itself in creating keel and centerboard day-sailing as well as cabin trailerable sailboats. |

The hulls and decks are all hand laminated fiberglass construction and are well appointed with top of the line hardware, leaving little to add. The boats are also designed with trailering in mind:
- centerboards are used in the 15 and 185,
- lead shoal keel on the 165, and
- shoal keel/centerboard design on the 18, 21 and 23.
These keel designs get the ballast down low for stability and the kick -up centerboard is housed completely below the cabin sole. These boats have none of the bad habits that many trailerable boats have. That is, they sail! They go upwind very well; they reach, run, and have stability that inspires confidence in the new sailor.
The fixed lead ballast of Precision’s keel models are twice as dense as comparable iron ballast and more than ten times the density of water ballast, thus requiring less space. As lead’s density is much greater, the ballast’s surface area can be smaller, resulting in less wetted surface area in the keel, further improving efficiency.
Precision provides safe, wide side decks with molded in non-skid to make it easier and safer for you and your family to move forward on the boat. Moreover shrouds are placed inboard to further improve access forward as well as allowing jib/genoa to be pulled in closer to centerline for better windward performance.
